“Primal Instincts” is the debut EP released by 3ktrae on June 23, 2020. With a total of six songs, 3ktrae gave just a taste of his versatile capabilities throughout each song.
Starting off with the first track, “UP!”, he matches the upbeat instrumental with his catchy and melodic melodies to reel you in wanting to hear more!
Moving on to the second track, “Destined”, we get a look into the mental battles he has endured throughout his life as well as a descriptive plan for his community once he makes it big time.
The third track “Greatest Moment” is a feel good moment of a song. 3ktrae speaks about his continuing representation of the Chickahominy Tribe and the Native American community as a whole, as well as his proclaiming himself “The King of Charles City”.
Continuing onto the fourth track titled “Waist Deep”, 3ktrae uses a Polo G type flow to break down his thoughts of how people waste their potential for a life of crime.
The fifth track, “Abandoned” is the most personal selection on the EP. 3ktrae talks about how he feels neglected from his family and friends as well as depression and suicidal thoughts, and even goes as far as to describe an actual conversation he had with his cousin in the first verse a night he a had contemplated taking his life.
The last track, “Gone” is an instant fan favorite. The guitar riffs mixed with the catchy flow of 3ktrae leads to song perfect for anytime or occasion.
Overall, Primal Instincts sets the tone for what 3ktrae has up his sleeve moving forward past his first year in the rap game. He has already confirmed his mixtape “Point to Prove” will be released sometime throughout 2021, so perhaps we see a side of him thats hungrier than ever to succeed past his EP release.
